Discover Great American Traditions in WV

Saturday, May 10 was the kick-off of the 25th Annual National Tourism Week and Discover Great American Traditions is the theme. The I-68 Welcome Center (coming into WV from Maryland) had a celebration of this and invited Gillum House to come participate. In view of the theme, Kathleen wore her 18th Century clothes to highlight that phase of history in West Virginia as well as to tell about our Thanksgiving package (also available for Christmas or New Year's Eve). Prickett's Fort, just north of Shinnston is a recreated stockade 1774 civilian fort with appropriately attired interpreters. West Virginia, and Mountaineer Country as we are called, is rich with history, including Civil War history. Come see for yourself.
